This year, the Berks Country Planning Commission’s Work Study Program interns developed an agricultural interactive map for Berks County. Zac Kopinetz and Cody Kleffel used Google to map the information derived from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and The Berks County Department of Agriculture. This map includes the type of Farmers Markets, names, schedule of operation, types of products available, websites, and location and contact information. And, because it uses Google, it’s easy to use on a smartphone and to obtain directions to the farmers market of choice.
More information is available on our website at www.co.berks.pa.us/dept/planning including maps for Supermarket/Grocery Store locations, Farmers Markets, SNAP Approved Retailers, and Accessibility for Low Income Areas. The presentation made to the Berks County Planning Commission members on August 9, 2017 is also available on our website.
